The Dayton Ohio based band The Werks have signed with Nimbleslick Entertainment, LLC, based out of Athens, Georgia, to handle tour and booking services for The Werks Music, LLC. "Known for its musical legacy, Athens, Georgia, has found an important place in American music. The city is the home of bands like R.E.M., The B-52s, and has had a powerful influence in the indie rock and jam band music scenes. Likewise, Nimbleslick has made its mark on the scene as well and it is fitting that we would be attracted to their culture, the great people behind the company, and the great bands they represent…we are both excited and honored that Owen Gray has become our new agent," said Rob Chafin, drummer and vocalist for The Werks.
Nimbleslick and Gray will be working closely with The Werks management to produce tours all across the US, and to focus on a number of major cities in Mid-Atlantic, southern and western states in 2010 and both east and west coasts in 2011. The Werks are a fusion of rock, funk, jam and psytrance and have operations in Southwest Ohio. They are managed through AlchemyHouse Presents, with operations in Yellow Springs, Ohio and Los Angeles, California. The band formed in 2007 and in addition to Chafin, is made up of Chris Houser on guitar/vocals, Chuck Love on bass/vocals and Norman Dimitrouleas on keyboards. The band released their second album “Synapse” in 2009 and is currently working on their live album to be released in late 2010. The band pushes the envelope by bridging a variety of musical styles, strong vocals and harmonies with high energy and solid musical tension. Their performances allow for an entirely new and unique musical voice that fans find intrinsically addictive. For more information about The Werks please visit http://www.thewerksmusic.com
11.6.09: The Dirty Guv'nahs sign with Nimbleslick
We are pleased to announced that Knoxville's The Dirty Guv'nahs have signed to Nimbleslick Entertainment for booking services. Voted Knoxville, Tennessee’s Best Band two years in a row by the Metro Pulse Readers Poll, The Dirty Guv'nahs are paving the way for a new chapter of American Rock and Roll. 2009 marks the release of their first full-length album, which was recorded in January over a period of five days at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, Georgia, with producer David Barbe (Drive by Truckers). Trimble and Michael Jenkins (guitarist) have continued to mature as songwriters, but die hard fans will recognize those signature sing-along choruses. Their message to lovers of rock and roll remains the same: This is not about us, and we all need family to get by. The Dirty Guv’nahs have been spreading their rock gospel across the Southeast for three years now, showcasing their sound which has been best described as "a passionate, jubilant slice of rock-meets-Americana." In their hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, they’ve graduated from playing packed out bars where latecomers are turned away from the door, to playing theaters where capacity crowds consistently cram in and press against the stage to hear another three hour helping of what Metro Pulse dubbed, "rock the way God intended." Agent Keith Perissi can be contacted for future avails and booking opportunities.
9.4.09: The Corduroy Road signs to Nimbleslick
We're very excited to announce the signing of The Corduroy Road. Since its inception by Drew Carman and Dylan Solise in early 2006, The Corduroy Road has molded bluegrass, Americana, folk rock, and old-time country with the rawest of live performances. With the addition of John Cable on drums and Elijah NeeSmith on bass, The Corduroy Road quickly gained a reputation in Athens as an up and coming band on the scene after sharing the stage with such notable bands including The Avett Brothers, Paleface, The Packway Handle Band, Ian Thomas, Langhorne Slim, and more. Athens Banner Herald called them “bluegrass rockers…influenced by old time country and Americana, while the live performances exude the energy of punk rock.” In November of 2008, The Corduroy Road entered the studio of local legend John Keane (Widespread Panic, REM, BR549, Uncle Tupelo) to record their debut LP, Love Is a War released in Summer 2009. The title track appears on the AthFest 2009 compilation CD that is released each year on Ghostmeat Records in conjunction with the prestigious arts and music festival, AthFest.
